GATE 2013 notifications are out and application can be made online from 1st September 2013. Lot of people make silly mistake while filling the online application form, because of which they cant attend the GATE exam. You need to upload your scanned photo and signature while filling the exam form. It must be in right dimensions and resolution. In this post I will discuss how you can prepare your scanned photo and signature using Google’s free picasa web tool.
Before we go ahead with all steps you will need a Google account and a mobile phone with at-least 1 MP camera or a digital camera would be the best.
Step 1. On a sheet of white paper put your 3-4 signature with black ink pen. Under bright light take the picture of this signature sheet using your mobile phone or digital camera.
Step 2. Transfer the image to your computer.
Step 3. With your Google account log in to picasaweb.google.com
Step 4. Click on upload button and upload the picture from your computer.
Step 5. Select the image and from the actions menu click on ‘edit in creative kit ‘
Step 6. Now using the crop option select the best appropriate signature and then click on apply. This will remove all other signatures and unnecessary white spaces.
Step 7. From the ‘exposure’ option, Increase the “highlights” so that the background becomes white. Also adjust the contrast to see if it further whitens the background. Click on apply to save the changes.
Step 8. You can use this step if there are any dark spots in your signature, to clear the dark spots select the ‘decorate ‘ tab Choose ‘Doodle’ on the left, Click on the Brush Color box. Click on any white area on the screen, you will see the code “FFFFFF” (this is the computer code for white colour). Choose the brush size. Click and drag the mouse on the dark regions on your image to make it white (be careful not to touch the main image; if you make a mistake, you can always click on ‘undo’ on the top right)
Step 9. Now the image editing is done. Choose “Save This Image” on the top right.
Step 10. Right click on it and save the image to your computer.
